2009 Grant Recipients

Congratulations to our 2009 Grant Recipients!

Sara Petroski-Lewis and Shelby Gauvin:     Amazon Mission/Everest Treck

6th and 8th grade students will identify and utilize the steps of the engineering design process and demonstrate their understanding of concepts as they help solve real world problems. This program will inspire students to learn by solving engineering challenges on imagined adventures to Mt. Everest and the rainforests of Venezuela and Brazil. This will also encourage cultural awareness and demonstrating the impacts that human behavior can have on the environment.

Jessica Neal:     Literacy Learning Cart

4th grade ELA teachers will have a variety of resources available to make literacy learning more engaging and interesting for students with these hands-on tools

Patricia Joy:     Tumble Books

Tumblebooks is an online subscription of animated books that reinforce the joy of reading. It can be used by early childhood and elementary students from school and home.

Michael Edwards and Steve Bellerose:     Technology of Space Exploration

7th grade physics and astronomy will be integrated while also teaching students computer and collaboration skills. The grant includes funds to purchase 14 Lenovo Idea Pad Computers.

The Education Foundation received more applications than we could fund in our first year. We invite individuals and businesses to fund one of these requests directly.  Click here to review grant requests we were not able to fund.
